Highlights 2020
The Hebrides - St. Kilda - Orkneys
One trip takes us to the Outer Hebrides and to St Kilda, the outpost in the Atlantic consisting of seven islands. The other to the Orkneys with the cities of Krikwall and Stromness and the legendary natural harbour of Scapa Flow. Final route decision depending on weather.
The Scotland cruises offer enthusiastic sailors the opportunity to deal intensively with the special challenges of this area under the guidance of experienced skippers. Above all, strong currents and drying passages require detailed planning and safe and precise navigation.

Choice of sailing intensity (please leave a note in the notes section of the registration form):
- Intensive: Sailing and exploring Scotland from the water is absolutely essential. The gennaker will be set whenever the wind direction allows it and it is possible due to the wind speed - if in doubt, set. The motor is used only if there is no wind or for the laste metres when docking - even that not always ;-).
- Good balance: Sailing is important to you - experiencing the countryside as welll. We don't need the most complicated and exhausting way to get to a new bay or port. Later departures can be compensated with earlier docking.
Costs: € 1.255.- excl. travel and expenses; 2 weeks €1.995,-; 3 weeks € 2780.- ;Surcharge single cabin 50%; Pair / family discount 10%.
Area:
Scotland, with its many magical places, unspoilt nature and hospitable people, is one of the most challenging and beautiful sailing areas in Europe. June is the perfect time of year to explore this fascinating area - the winter storms are over, the landscape shines in a colourful sea of flowers and seabirds accompany us on our journey..
Countless lonely bays, narrow passages with exciting currents, dreamy villages with quaint pubs and scattered whiskey distilleries characterise this unique area.
Precise navigation is essential due to the large tidal range, many dry passages, shallows and sometimes very strong currents. The weather in June can be gentle, but also wet and windy - it cannot be ruled out that we do some heavy weather training at the same time. Enjoying nature combined with practice disturbance and tidal training!
Contents:
Tidal navigation, current sailing, sailing manoeuvres with spinnaker and/or gennaker, harbour manoeuvres in current, safety at sea, seamanship, watch systems, special controls etc.
Which trip we sail in week 1 and week 2, we decide at short notice due to the weather conditions.
